Current availability

The subject-specific curriculum is authored but not yet published for completion. Learners may inspect its scope and learning design now. Start, grading, and completion remain unavailable until every listed gate passes.

  • qualified review approval is required
  • reviewer identity, qualification, evidence, and approval date are required

What this course establishes

  • Map credential, authorization, recall, warranty and escalation gates without claiming technician, contractor, EPA or manufacturer-authorized status
  • Explain appliance power, control, sensor, actuator, mechanical, thermal, air, water and refrigeration subsystems and reason from fictional supplied evidence
  • Audit fictional intake, diagnosis, part traceability, estimate, correction, retest, handoff and first-time-fix quality records

Entry knowledge

  • Careful reading, arithmetic with units, diagram literacy, customer communication and willingness to stop at a safety or authorization boundary
  • Ability to distinguish a customer-reported symptom, observed condition, stored fault code, supplied measurement, hypothesis, confirmed cause and completed correction
  • Commitment to identify the exact model, serial, variant, service-document revision, recall status, warranty status and governing authorization before any repair decision

Scope boundaries

  • All customers, homes, appliances, readings, parts and service events are fictional. Learners must not open or disassemble a real appliance, remove a panel, place a meter, energize equipment, apply or remove energy control, discharge a capacitor, defeat an interlock, move a heavy appliance, access microwave high-voltage systems, open a refrigerant circuit, braze, pressure-test, leak-check, alter gas or combustion equipment, or disturb water/steam connections through this course.
  • This is not hands-on trade training, supervised work experience, an electrical/gas/plumbing/HVAC or contractor license, an EPA Section 608 credential, OSHA authorized/qualified-person designation, manufacturer authorization, warranty authorization, code certification, college credit or professional certification. EPA approves Section 608 certifying programs and tests, not preparatory courses such as this one.
  • No completion time, score or internal certificate predicts employment, safe field performance, licensing, manufacturer authorization or official examination performance. For gas odor, carbon-monoxide alarm or symptoms, fire, smoke, flooding, damaged microwave door/interlock, shock, exposed energy or other imminent hazard, stop use, leave or isolate the area as appropriate and contact verified emergency, utility, manufacturer or qualified local help.

Fastest competency route

Completion is self-paced and competency-based. Prior knowledge can shorten conceptual study only when model identity, sources, units, authorization, hypotheses, supplied evidence, corrections and limitations remain traceable across varied fictional cases. Manual skill and hazard competence require supervised hands-on training; no fastest-hour, credential, employment or safety promise is made.

  1. Pass diagnostics on role boundaries, intake, appliance systems, document control, fault-tree reasoning, parts, estimates, retest and handoff
  2. Repair every planted defect in the fictional appliance-service audit
  3. Complete and defend the appliance diagnostic, repair-decision and handoff dossier

Full self-paced route

  1. Service role, product identity, customer intake, safety triage, warranty, recall and document control
  2. Appliance system architecture, fault codes, schematics, supplied readings and controlled diagnostic hypotheses
  3. Part compatibility, estimate and repair-versus-replace decisions, correction evidence, retest, handoff and quality
  4. Applied appliance diagnostic, repair-decision and handoff dossier

Lesson and assessment map

01

Service role, product identity, customer intake, safety triage, warranty, and recall

Create a traceable service intake while keeping hazardous work and external authorization decisions with qualified responsible parties.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

02

Appliance systems, service documents, schematics, and fault-tree diagnosis

Explain interacting appliance subsystems and update a diagnostic hypothesis from fictional supplied readings without touching real equipment.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

03

Parts, estimates, repair-versus-replace, verification, handoff, and quality

Build a transparent repair decision and auditable closeout from fictional evidence, including exact part fit, retest and customer limitations.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

Required applied assignment

Appliance diagnostic, repair-decision, and handoff dossier

Repair the fictional appliance-service audit and carry one fictional case from customer intake and exact product identity through safety/credential gates, recall and warranty research, subsystem mapping, supplied-reading diagnosis, part and estimate review, repair-versus-replace decision, correction evidence, retest, handoff and quality measurement. Do not inspect, move, open, test, energize, disassemble or repair a real appliance.

  • Accessible intake, product/document identity ledger and credential, safety, recall, warranty and escalation matrix
  • Appliance subsystem/block diagram and model-correct service-document map
  • Fault tree with competing hypotheses, predicted results and unit-checked supplied-evidence ledger
  • Part-compatibility record, estimate and repair-versus-replace decision with explicit tradeoffs
  • Correction/retest chain, customer handoff and quality dashboard with duplicate repair, denominator, missingness, safety outcomes and balancing measures

Passing standard: 80 of 100 points, with substantive revision required.

Continue after this course

  • Verify current licensing, permit, EPA Section 608, employer qualification, manufacturer, warranty and adopted-code requirements for the actual jurisdiction, appliance and task
  • Complete supervised hands-on training with qualified instructors using approved facilities, lifting controls, PPE, energy-control procedures, instruments and manufacturer service information
  • Maintain model-specific service-document, recall, part, refrigerant, safety, accessibility, data-security and continuing-education competence
