Current availability
The subject-specific curriculum is authored but not yet published for completion. Learners may inspect its scope and learning design now. Start, grading, and completion remain unavailable until every listed gate passes.
- qualified review approval is required
- reviewer identity, qualification, evidence, and approval date are required
What this course establishes
- Translate a fictional owner/site brief into a traceable program, stakeholder, code and risk basis
- Develop paper-only schematic and systems concepts that coordinate structure, enclosure, MEP, life safety, accessibility and environmental performance
- Audit fictional drawings/specifications/BIM, permit responses, submittals, field observations and closeout without practicing architecture
Entry knowledge
- Geometry, scale, units, diagram/drawing literacy and clear written communication
- Ability to distinguish owner requirements, design criteria, code analysis, design decisions, construction documents, permit review and construction observations
- Commitment to public health, safety and welfare, inclusive engagement, responsible control, conflicts disclosure and documented coordination
Scope boundaries
- All owners, users, sites, jurisdictions, surveys, geotechnical data, hazards, codes, drawings, models, costs and projects are fictional. Learners must not offer architectural services, use a protected title where unlicensed, seal/sign drawings, select an adopted code for a real project, approve design or substitutions, provide engineering, direct construction, certify payment/compliance, conduct unsafe site visits, submit permits or communicate as architect-of-record through this course.
- This is not an NAAB-accredited degree, AXP experience, ARE preparation guarantee, architecture/firm licensure, NCARB Certificate, continuing education, responsible control, professional liability qualification, LEED/WELL/passive-building certification, permit approval, college credit or professional certification.
- Only the licensed architect in responsible control and coordinated licensed consultants may make project decisions within actual law, contract, adopted code, authority interpretations and site evidence. Internal completion or a fastest route never predicts licensure, exam performance, code approval, building performance, professional competence or employment.
Fastest competency route
Completion is self-paced and competency-based. Prior knowledge may shorten conceptual study only when public-welfare, code, coordination, evidence and revision work remains complete. Accredited education, AXP/supervised experience, ARE, jurisdiction exams, license, responsible control and continuing education remain external; no fastest-hour, licensure, exam, approval or employment promise is made.
- Pass diagnostics on licensure/ethics, programming/site, code/occupancy/egress/accessibility, systems/environmental design, documentation/coordination and construction phase
- Repair every planted defect in the fictional architectural project audit
- Complete and defend the architectural basis-of-design dossier
Full self-paced route
- Practice pathway, public welfare, programming, site, stakeholders and design criteria
- Code/life safety/accessibility, spatial/system/environmental design and evaluation
- Construction documents, specifications/BIM, permitting, procurement, construction-phase services and closeout
- Applied architectural basis-of-design dossier
Lesson and assessment map
Practice pathway, public welfare, programming, site, and design criteria
Convert a fictional project request into an ethically bounded, evidence-based program and site basis.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Code, life safety, accessibility, systems, and environmental performance
Build a fictional code and basis-of-design analysis that coordinates spatial intent with public-welfare systems.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Documents, specifications/BIM, permitting, procurement, and construction phase
Create a coordinated fictional issue set and trace decisions through permit review, construction and closeout.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Required applied assignment
Architectural basis-of-design dossier
Repair the fictional architectural audit and create one paper-only dossier from practice boundaries and programming through site/code/accessibility/systems/environmental design, coordinated documents, permit response, procurement, construction phase and closeout. Do not offer/seal professional services, select governing rules for a real site, submit permits, direct work or certify conditions.
- Licensure/responsible-control, services/consultants, ethics/conflicts, stakeholder/privacy and program records
- Site/hazard/historic evidence map and governing code/occupancy/egress/accessibility analysis
- Spatial, structural, enclosure, MEP, climate, resilience and energy/carbon basis of design
- Sheet/spec/model coordination, issue/revision, permit, substitution, submittal and RFI controls
- Field observation/change, commissioning/closeout and quality dashboard with duplicate repair, denominators, missingness and balancing measures
Passing standard: 80 of 100 points, with substantive revision required.
Continue after this course
- Verify education, experience, examination, title/practice, firm, reciprocity and continuing-education rules with the intended licensing board
- Complete accredited/accepted education and supervised experience across programming, design, documentation, project management and construction/evaluation areas
- Maintain code, decision, coordination, accessibility, performance, risk, quality, field, change and continuing-competence records under responsible control
