Current availability
The subject-specific curriculum is authored but not yet published for completion. Learners may inspect its scope and learning design now. Start, grading, and completion remain unavailable until every listed gate passes.
- qualified review approval is required
- reviewer identity, qualification, evidence, and approval date are required
What this course establishes
- Translate a fictional customer concern and vehicle identity into an authorized service-information and safety plan
- Use system theory, wiring diagrams, scan data and mechanical measurements to rank and test fictional fault hypotheses
- Build paper-only estimate, repair, verification, recall/emissions/ADAS and customer-handoff records without touching a vehicle
Entry knowledge
- Arithmetic, ratios, units, basic electricity, mechanical diagrams and exact records
- Ability to distinguish customer concern, vehicle identity/configuration, symptom, diagnostic trouble code, test result, root cause, repair action and verification
- Commitment to lift/support, hazardous-energy, fuel/chemical, restraint-system, refrigerant, emissions and road-test boundaries
Scope boundaries
- All vehicles, VINs, customers, modules, codes and measurements are fictional. Learners must not lift/support or road-test vehicles; start/run engines; probe energized circuits; disconnect batteries; access hybrid/high-voltage systems; deploy/handle airbags or pretensioners; open fuel, brake, cooling, refrigerant or pressurized systems; machine parts; mount tires; weld; program keys/modules; alter emissions/odometer/security systems; or perform ADAS calibration through this course.
- This is not technician or repair-facility licensure, ASE or manufacturer certification, registered apprenticeship or supervised hours, state inspection/emissions authorization, Section 609 certification, hybrid/EV high-voltage qualification, lift/tire/airbag/ADAS calibration authorization, locksmith/security credential, college credit or professional certification.
- Only current VIN-specific service information, recalls/campaigns, approved parts/fluids/software, calibrated tools, qualified personnel, customer authorization and applicable law govern real repairs. Internal completion or a fastest route never predicts safe repairs, certification, inspection approval, vehicle safety or employment.
Fastest competency route
Completion is self-paced and competency-based. Prior knowledge may shorten conceptual study only when authorization, service-information, measurement, safety and revision evidence remains complete. Hands-on skill, supervised hours, licenses, certification tests, road tests and manufacturer/platform authorization remain external; no fastest-hour, certification or employment promise is made.
- Pass diagnostics on work-order control, vehicle systems, electrical/mechanical testing, OBD, safety, emissions, ADAS and verification
- Repair every planted defect in the fictional service audit
- Complete and defend the diagnostic and repair dossier
Full self-paced route
- Vehicle identity, work orders, maintenance, systems and safe setup
- Engine/powertrain, chassis, electrical/control and structured diagnostics
- Repair verification, emissions, recalls, ADAS, customer handoff and quality
- Applied diagnostic and repair dossier
Lesson and assessment map
Vehicle identity, work orders, maintenance, systems, and safe setup
Convert a fictional customer concern into an authorized, VIN-specific, safely bounded inspection plan.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Engine, powertrain, chassis, electrical/control, and structured diagnostics
Use fictional scan, electrical and mechanical evidence to test competing causes without unsafe or unauthorized vehicle access.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Repair verification, emissions, recalls, ADAS, and customer handoff
Build a fictional repair and verification dossier that proves the concern and affected systems were addressed without creating new faults.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Required applied assignment
Automotive diagnostic and repair dossier
Repair the fictional service audit and create one paper-only dossier from customer concern and vehicle identity through safety, system theory, diagnostics, authorized repair, emissions/recall/ADAS checks, verification and handoff. Perform no lifting, road testing, energized probing, fluid/refrigerant/fuel access, restraint/high-voltage work, programming or calibration.
- Concern, VIN/configuration, recall, service-information, authorization and estimate record
- System-energy and safe lift/support/chemical/restraint/high-voltage boundary map
- Electrical/mechanical/scan evidence, hypothesis tree and predicted-test matrix
- Repair traveler with parts/fluids/software/torque and before-after verification
- Emissions/Section 609/ADAS/customer handoff and quality dashboard with duplicate repair, denominators, missingness and balancing measures
Passing standard: 80 of 100 points, with substantive revision required.
Continue after this course
- Verify technician/facility, inspection, emissions, Section 609, hybrid/high-voltage and consumer-repair requirements for the intended jurisdiction
- Complete supervised laboratories and field training on exact vehicles, lifts, scan tools, meters, pressure/measurement tools, service information and repair procedures
- Maintain qualification, calibration, authorization, diagnostic, parts/fluids, software, recall and continuing-competence records
