Current availability
The subject-specific curriculum is authored but not yet published for completion. Learners may inspect its scope and learning design now. Start, grading, and completion remain unavailable until every listed gate passes.
- qualified review approval is required
- reviewer identity, qualification, evidence, and approval date are required
What this course establishes
- Map apprenticeship, jurisdiction, code, inspection, qualification and site-authorization gates without claiming journey status
- Analyze fictional vessel geometry, drawings, material records, fit-up, joining variables and a paper-only repair plan
- Audit supplied inspection, NDE, test, disposition, handoff and quality records without entering or working on equipment
Entry knowledge
- Careful reading, algebra, geometry, unit conversion and willingness to stop when authority, identity, condition or safety evidence is missing
- Ability to distinguish a drawing, specification, code rule, manufacturer instruction, owner procedure and field observation
- Commitment to traceable records, accessible communication and qualified-person boundaries
Scope boundaries
- All vessels, drawings, materials, welds, readings and records are fictional. Learners must not enter a vessel or confined space; isolate energy; line break; atmospheric-test; rescue; fire-watch; rig, signal or lift; climb; use fall systems or scaffolds; cut, grind, heat, weld or braze; pressure-test; chemically clean; install refractory; or accept an inspection through this course.
- This is not a registered apprenticeship, supervised work experience, journey credential, welding or NDE qualification, code endorsement, authorized-inspector credential, license, permit, employer qualified-person designation, college credit or professional certification.
- Only the current adopted code, AHJ, owner/user, authorized inspector, engineer, manufacturer, employer and qualified personnel may govern real work. No internal completion, time or score predicts qualification, employment, safe field performance or official examination results.
Fastest competency route
Completion is self-paced and competency-based. Prior knowledge may shorten conceptual study only when calculations, sources, revisions, material identity, process records, inspection evidence and dispositions remain traceable. Apprenticeship hours, manual skill, safety competence and qualifications require supervised external routes; no fastest-hour, journey-status or employment promise is made.
- Pass the pathway, geometry, materials, fabrication, safety, inspection and quality diagnostics
- Repair every planted defect in the fictional project audit
- Complete and defend the fabrication, repair and verification dossier
Full self-paced route
- Trade pathway, authority, vessel systems, drawings, geometry and materials
- Paper fabrication and repair planning, joining qualification concepts, fit-up, rigging and hazard governance
- Inspection, NDE, pressure-test boundaries, disposition, handoff and quality
- Applied fabrication, repair and verification dossier
Lesson and assessment map
Trade pathway, pressure systems, drawings, geometry, and material traceability
Translate a fictional vessel scope into an authority map, unit-checked geometry model and traceable drawing/material register.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Fabrication and repair planning, joining qualification, fit-up, rigging, and hazard governance
Build a paper-only fabrication or repair plan that controls revisions, process variables, fit-up, hold points and high-hazard authorization.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Inspection, NDE evidence, testing boundaries, disposition, handoff, and quality
Evaluate supplied inspection and test evidence, preserve defect history and build an auditable acceptance and handoff record.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Required applied assignment
Boilermaker fabrication, repair, and verification dossier
Repair the fictional boilermaker project audit and create one paper-only vessel fabrication or repair dossier from credential and code governance through drawings, geometry, materials, fit-up, process qualification records, hazard gates, supplied inspection/NDE/test evidence, disposition, handoff and quality. Perform no real vessel entry, hot work, energy control, rigging, access, inspection or pressure testing.
- Apprenticeship, jurisdiction, code, AHJ, inspector, qualification and task-authority matrix
- Accessible system/drawing/revision map, unit-checked geometry and material traceability ledger
- Fabrication traveler, fit-up/hold-point plan, WPS-PQR-performance-qualification crosswalk and non-operational hazard/rigging audit
- Inspection/NDE/test evidence and nonconformance-disposition-correction-retest chain
- Turnover index and quality dashboard with duplicate repair, denominator, severity, missingness, accessibility and balancing measures
Passing standard: 80 of 100 points, with substantive revision required.
Continue after this course
- Verify the current registered-apprenticeship sponsor, jurisdiction, adopted code edition, AHJ, inspector and employer requirements
- Complete supervised shop and field training in layout, fabrication, welding, rigging, access, inspection and safety through an authorized route
- Maintain documented qualifications and current code, owner, manufacturer, safety and quality competence for each assigned process
