Current availability

The subject-specific curriculum is authored but not yet published for completion. Learners may inspect its scope and learning design now. Start, grading, and completion remain unavailable until every listed gate passes.

  • qualified review approval is required
  • reviewer identity, qualification, evidence, and approval date are required

What this course establishes

  • Map apprenticeship, licensing, code, permit, engineering, inspection and employer gates without claiming mason or contractor status
  • Analyze fictional drawings and create unit-checked quantity, bond, coursing, opening, movement-joint and moisture-control plans
  • Audit fictional material, mortar/grout, reinforcement, flashing, scaffold, silica, inspection, correction, handoff and quality records

Entry knowledge

  • Careful reading, arithmetic, fractions, ratios, area and volume, visual-spatial reasoning and willingness to stop when documents or authority conflict
  • Ability to distinguish design intent, approved document, manufacturer instruction, product data, field observation and inspection decision
  • Commitment to material traceability, accessible records, worker safety and durable moisture-aware construction

Scope boundaries

  • All sites, walls, units, mortar, grout, tools, exposures and records are fictional. Learners must not erect, alter or use scaffolds; work at height; cut, grind, saw, chip, mix, lay or demolish masonry; lift loads; brace walls; enter limited-access zones; handle cementitious products; or conduct exposure monitoring or structural inspection through this course.
  • This is not a registered apprenticeship, supervised work experience, journey credential, contractor license, competent-person designation, silica program, scaffold training, building-code certification, special-inspector qualification, professional engineering service, college credit or professional certification.
  • Only the adopted code, approved design, AHJ, engineer, architect, manufacturer, employer, competent person and qualified inspectors govern real work. No internal completion, score or fastest route predicts qualification, employment, safe technique, structural performance or examination results.

Fastest competency route

Completion is self-paced and competency-based. Prior knowledge may shorten conceptual study only when units, drawings, revisions, quantities, material identity, joints, moisture paths, inspection evidence and corrections remain traceable. Apprenticeship hours, field technique, safety competence and qualifications require supervised external routes; no fastest-hour, journey-status, license or employment promise is made.

  1. Pass diagnostics on authority, drawings, geometry, materials, wall systems, moisture, safety, inspection and quality
  2. Repair every planted defect in the fictional masonry audit
  3. Complete and defend the masonry planning and verification dossier

Full self-paced route

  1. Trade pathway, authority, drawings, layout, estimating and material systems
  2. Bond, coursing, mortar/grout, reinforcement, flashing, movement and paper-only work planning
  3. Silica, scaffolds, wall stability, inspection, correction, handoff and quality
  4. Applied masonry planning and verification dossier

Lesson and assessment map

01

Trade pathway, authority, drawings, layout, estimating, and materials

Translate a fictional masonry scope into an authority map, revision-controlled wall model, unit-checked layout and traceable material schedule.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

02

Bond, coursing, mortar and grout, reinforcement, moisture, movement, and work planning

Create a paper-only wall-system plan that coordinates structural, enclosure and finish relationships without directing field installation.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

03

Silica, scaffold and wall-stability boundaries, inspection, correction, handoff, and quality

Audit fictional exposure-control, access, stability, inspection and turnover evidence while preserving qualified-person decisions.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

Required applied assignment

Brick masonry planning and verification dossier

Repair the fictional masonry-project audit and create one paper-only brick or block wall dossier from credential and code governance through drawings, modular layout, takeoff, materials, bond/coursing, mortar/grout/reinforcement, moisture/movement, safety gates, supplied inspection evidence, correction, handoff and quality. Perform no real cutting, mixing, laying, scaffold use, bracing, exposure control or structural inspection.

  • Apprenticeship, licensing, code, permit, AHJ, design, inspection and employer-authority matrix
  • Accessible drawing/revision/RFI register, unit-checked layout and quantity takeoff, and material traceability ledger
  • Bond/coursing elevation plus mortar, grout, reinforcement, flashing, drainage, movement and weather coordination plan
  • Silica, scaffold, fall and wall-stability boundary map plus inspection/nonconformance/correction/reinspection chain
  • Handoff index and quality dashboard with duplicate repair, denominator, severity, missingness, accessibility and balancing measures

Passing standard: 80 of 100 points, with substantive revision required.
