Current availability
The subject-specific curriculum is authored but not yet published for completion. Learners may inspect its scope and learning design now. Start, grading, and completion remain unavailable until every listed gate passes.
- qualified review approval is required
- reviewer identity, qualification, evidence, and approval date are required
What this course establishes
- Map training, licensing, permit, code, shop, site and task-authorization gates without claiming cabinetmaker or contractor status
- Translate a fictional brief and supplied measurements into accessible shop drawings, a parts/cut list, material plan, joinery rationale and hardware schedule
- Audit fictional fabrication, finish, installation, inspection, correction, handoff and quality evidence without operating tools or entering a jobsite
Entry knowledge
- Careful reading, arithmetic, fractions, geometry, unit conversion, spatial reasoning and willingness to stop when scope, identity or safety evidence is missing
- Ability to distinguish client request, approved drawing, field verification, manufacturer data, material certificate and inspection result
- Commitment to accessible design, material stewardship, indoor-air quality, truthful tolerances and traceable revision control
Scope boundaries
- All clients, rooms, measurements, cabinets, machines, materials, finishes and records are fictional. Learners must not operate, set up, adjust, clear or maintain woodworking machinery; defeat guards; isolate energy; cut, rout, drill, sand, spray or apply finishes; lift/install cabinets; disturb utilities; or select workplace exposure controls through this course.
- This is not a registered apprenticeship, supervised shop experience, journey credential, contractor license, competent- or qualified-person designation, machine authorization, respiratory-protection program, code certification, professional design service, college credit or professional certification.
- Only the current jurisdiction, approved design, AHJ, manufacturer, employer, competent/qualified people and authorized inspectors govern real work. No internal completion, time or score predicts safe machine skill, qualification, employment, code acceptance or client outcome.
Fastest competency route
Completion is self-paced and competency-based. Prior knowledge may shorten conceptual study only when brief, dimensions, units, revisions, material identity, grain/movement, interfaces, tolerances and verification remain traceable. Machine skill, apprenticeship hours, shop authorization and field competence require supervised external routes; no fastest-hour, credential or employment promise is made.
- Pass diagnostics on authority, briefs, drawings, measurement, materials, wood movement, joinery, hardware, safety, finishing and quality
- Repair every planted defect in the fictional cabinet-project audit
- Complete and defend the cabinet design and verification dossier
Full self-paced route
- Pathway, client brief, site evidence, ergonomics, drawings and tolerances
- Materials, wood movement, sheet optimization, joinery, hardware and paper-only process planning
- Machine/dust/finish boundaries, inspection, installation, handoff and quality
- Applied cabinet design and verification dossier
Lesson and assessment map
Trade pathway, client brief, site evidence, ergonomics, drawings, and tolerances
Convert a fictional client need and supplied site evidence into an authority map and coordinated, accessible drawing set.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Materials, wood movement, sheet optimization, joinery, hardware, and process planning
Create a paper-only cabinet build package that respects material behavior, load path, interfaces and manufacturing traceability.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Machine and exposure boundaries, finishing, inspection, installation, handoff, and quality
Audit fictional shop, finish and installation evidence while keeping hazardous work with authorized personnel and preserving correction history.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Required applied assignment
Cabinet design and verification dossier
Repair the fictional cabinet-project audit and create one paper-only cabinet package from credential and client governance through supplied site evidence, drawings, tolerances, materials, movement, parts and sheet planning, joinery, hardware, non-operational fabrication, finish and installation governance, inspection, handoff and quality. Operate no machine or tool and perform no finishing, lifting, utility work or installation.
- Training, licensing, permit, AHJ, shop, installation and task-authority matrix
- Inclusive client brief, supplied-site evidence/RFI register and accessible revision-controlled drawing set
- Material/emissions/movement ledger, parts and sheet-yield schedules, joinery/hardware matrix and paper traveler
- Machine/dust/chemical/finish boundary audit plus inspection/nonconformance/correction/recheck chain
- Installation/handoff index and quality dashboard with duplicate repair, denominator, severity, missingness, accessibility and balancing measures
Passing standard: 80 of 100 points, with substantive revision required.
Continue after this course
- Verify current apprenticeship, employer training, contractor, permit, code, shop and installation requirements for the intended location and work
