Current availability
The subject-specific curriculum is authored but not yet published for completion. Learners may inspect its scope and learning design now. Start, grading, and completion remain unavailable until every listed gate passes.
- qualified review approval is required
- reviewer identity, qualification, evidence, and approval date are required
What this course establishes
- Separate CODA accreditation, degree completion, NBDHE eligibility/examination, state clinical and licensure requirements, supervision and function-specific authorization
- Build a fictional evidence-based dental-hygiene process of care from medical/dental history, vital signs, extraoral/intraoral and periodontal findings, risk assessment, goals, interventions and reevaluation
- Close a fictional encounter with radiography and preventive-agent boundaries, infection and sharps controls, emergency escalation, accurate documentation, referral and reproducible quality measures
Entry knowledge
- Foundational oral anatomy, physiology, microbiology, pharmacology, medical terminology and arithmetic
- Ability to separate observed oral findings, dental-hygiene assessment and legally authorized diagnosis from a dentist's diagnosis and treatment plan
- Commitment to stop and escalate when identity, consent, medical stability, order, supervision, infection control, competency or scope is uncertain
Scope boundaries
- Every patient, tooth, periodontal chart, radiograph, medication, product, instrument, exposure, emergency and record is fictional. Learners must not examine, probe, scale, root-plane, polish, debride, expose radiographs, apply fluoride or sealant, administer or monitor anesthetic or nitrous oxide, prescribe, diagnose, inject, perform an intraoral procedure, give patient-specific clinical advice or access a real dental record through this course.
- This internal certificate-of-completion course is not a CODA-accredited dental-hygiene program, degree, NBDHE eligibility or examination guarantee, regional/state clinical examination, state license, radiography permit, local-anesthesia/nitrous/restorative credential, clinical competency record, supervised patient-care experience, continuing education, college credit or employment qualification. No completion time, credential, licensure, transfer, clinical competence, placement or employment outcome is guaranteed.
Fastest competency route
Completion is self-paced and competency-based. Prior knowledge can shorten study only when authorization, patient assessment, periodontal evidence, preventive reasoning, infection controls, escalation, documentation and reevaluation remain traceable across varied simulations; no completion time, NBDHE result, license, clinical competence, credit or employment outcome is guaranteed.
- Pass diagnostics on credential layers, assessment, periodontal evidence, care planning, instrumentation boundaries, prevention, radiography, infection control, emergencies and quality
- Repair every planted defect in the fictional dental-hygiene encounter audit
- Complete and defend the simulation-only process-of-care dossier and remediation log
Full self-paced route
- Authority, patient rights, medical/dental assessment and periodontal evidence
- Dental-hygiene care planning, instrumentation reasoning, prevention and radiography
- Infection control, medical emergencies, documentation, referral and quality
- Applied dental-hygiene process-of-care dossier
Lesson and assessment map
Authority, patient rights, medical/dental assessment, and periodontal evidence
Open a fictional dental-hygiene encounter only when authorization, identity, consent, medical stability and a reproducible oral/periodontal assessment agree.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Care planning, instrumentation reasoning, prevention, and radiography
Translate fictional assessment evidence into authorized, individualized and measurable preventive care without teaching an unsupervised procedure.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Infection control, medical emergencies, documentation, referral, and quality
Close a fictional encounter without cross-contamination, sharps injury, lost escalation, fabricated documentation or misleading performance claims.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Required applied assignment
Simulation-only dental-hygiene process-of-care dossier
Repair the fictional dental-hygiene audit and design one complete encounter from identity and medical history through closed-loop referral and quality review. Use only fictional text records. Do not contact, assess or treat a real patient; perform an intraoral procedure; expose radiographs; use instruments; apply products; administer medication or anesthetic; or access real dental records.
- Corrected encounter audit with one disposition per stable ID, explicit DH-018 duplicate resolution and defect/remediation log
- CODA/program/NBDHE/state-license/supervision/function/permit crosswalk plus identity, consent, medical-risk, accessibility and safeguarding controls
- Complete fictional extraoral/intraoral/periodontal and risk assessment with site provenance, missingness, problem statements, patient goals and consultation triggers
- Authorized care, instrumentation-reasoning, self-care teach-back, fluoride/sealant and radiograph justification/optimization/reevaluation plan without procedural instructions
- Operatory zoning, reprocessing/sterilization monitoring, sharps/exposure and emergency readiness/escalation records
- Attributable progress note, auditable correction, privacy-safe evidence, closed-loop referrals and accessible QI dashboard with denominators, stratification and balancing measures
Passing standard: 80 of 100 points, with substantive revision required.
