Current availability

The subject-specific curriculum is authored but not yet published for completion. Learners may inspect its scope and learning design now. Start, grading, and completion remain unavailable until every listed gate passes.

  • qualified review approval is required
  • reviewer identity, qualification, evidence, and approval date are required

What this course establishes

  • Map employer, credential, regulatory, vehicle, task and test-drive authority without claiming technician qualification
  • Analyze fictional diesel, air, electrical, network, brake and aftertreatment systems using supplied measurements and controlled fault trees
  • Audit fictional preventive-maintenance, defect, repair, verification, regulatory handoff and quality records without touching a vehicle

Entry knowledge

  • Careful reading, arithmetic, units, electrical and pressure fundamentals, mechanical reasoning and willingness to stop when vehicle identity or safety evidence is missing
  • Ability to distinguish customer complaint, verified symptom, diagnostic trouble code, test result, root cause, repair instruction and acceptance criterion
  • Commitment to emissions integrity, accurate records, accessible communication, contamination control and never bypassing safety systems

Scope boundaries

  • All vehicles, faults, measurements, fluids, parts and records are fictional. Learners must not start, move, lift/support, enter, road-test, inspect under, disable, disassemble or repair a vehicle; service brakes, tires/rims, fuel, air/hydraulic/spring, electrical/high-voltage, aftertreatment or MVAC systems; isolate energy; weld; or handle refrigerant, batteries, DEF, fuel, exhaust or waste through this course.
  • This is not hands-on trade training, employer authorization, CDL, brake-inspector qualification, state inspection license, manufacturer/dealer authorization, warranty approval, EPA Section 609 certification, refrigerant credential, industry certification, college credit or professional certification.
  • Only current OEM service information, regulators, motor carrier, employer, qualified/certified technicians and authorized inspectors govern real work. No internal completion, time or score predicts safe technique, qualification, employment, regulatory compliance or repair outcome.

Fastest competency route

Completion is self-paced and competency-based. Prior knowledge may shorten conceptual study only when vehicle configuration, service-information revision, units, measurements, hypotheses, repair authority and verification remain traceable. Hands-on competence, certifications and regulatory qualifications require supervised external routes; no fastest-credential or employment promise is made.

  1. Pass diagnostics on authority, vehicle identity, systems, PM, fault isolation, emissions, safety and records
  2. Repair every planted defect in the fictional diesel-service audit
  3. Complete and defend the diesel diagnostic and maintenance dossier

Full self-paced route

  1. Pathway, vehicle identity, service information, work orders and preventive maintenance
  2. Diesel/aftertreatment, electrical/network, air/brake and supplied-data diagnostics
  3. Energy/lifting/tire/MVAC boundaries, repair verification, regulatory handoff and quality
  4. Applied diesel diagnostic and maintenance dossier

Lesson and assessment map

01

Technician pathway, vehicle identity, service information, work orders, and preventive maintenance

Build a fictional service file that keeps vehicle configuration, authority, complaint, inspection and maintenance evidence traceable.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

02

Diesel combustion, aftertreatment, electrical/network, air/brake systems, and diagnostic reasoning

Use fictional supplied measurements to build and update fault trees without replacing parts or altering a vehicle.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

03

Energy, lifting, tire and MVAC boundaries, repair verification, handoff, and quality

Audit fictional safety, repair and regulatory evidence while preserving defects, authorization and verification history.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

Required applied assignment

Diesel diagnostic and maintenance dossier

Repair the fictional diesel-service audit and create one paper-only vehicle dossier from credential and vehicle identity through PM, supplied engine/aftertreatment/electrical/network/air-brake diagnostics, safety and regulatory gates, repair verification, handoff and quality. Do not start, move, lift, test-drive, inspect physically, service, disassemble or repair a real vehicle.

  • Employer, certification, CDL/test-drive, brake-inspector, state-inspection, OEM and Section 609 authority matrix
  • Vehicle/configuration and service-information register, complaint/verified-symptom record and PM plan
  • Unit-checked supplied-data ledger and engine, aftertreatment, electrical/network and air-brake fault trees
  • Energy/lift/tire/MVAC/emissions boundary audit plus defect/repair/verification chain
  • Regulatory handoff and quality dashboard with duplicate repair, denominator, severity, missingness, accessibility and balancing measures

Passing standard: 80 of 100 points, with substantive revision required.

Continue after this course

  • Verify employer, manufacturer, motor-carrier, state inspection, CDL/test-drive, brake, MVAC/refrigerant and certification requirements for the intended work
  • Complete supervised hands-on training in inspection, measurements, lifting, maintenance, diagnostics, repairs and verification on the exact equipment
  • Maintain current OEM service, recall/campaign, emissions, safety, refrigerant, waste, accessibility and documentation competence
