Current availability

The subject-specific curriculum is authored but not yet published for completion. Learners may inspect its scope and learning design now. Start, grading, and completion remain unavailable until every listed gate passes.

  • qualified review approval is required
  • reviewer identity, qualification, evidence, and approval date are required

What this course establishes

  • Map apprenticeship, journey, qualified-employee, switching, CDL, rescue and task-specific authorities without claiming lineworker status
  • Model fictional radial/looped distribution and transmission systems, identify possible sources and create paper-only job briefings
  • Audit fictional switching, deenergization, grounding, approach, access, rigging, restoration, handoff and quality evidence without contacting a system

Entry knowledge

  • Algebra, trigonometry, units, schematic and map reading, disciplined communication and willingness to stop when circuit identity, status or authority is uncertain
  • Ability to distinguish source, nominal voltage, phase, protection zone, isolation point, protective ground, work boundary and switching instruction
  • Commitment to crew accountability, public protection, accessible communication and exact operating records

Scope boundaries

  • All lines, voltages, poles, structures, substations, underground systems, equipment, customers and records are fictional. Learners must not climb, enter a vault/manhole, use an aerial device, approach or touch conductors/equipment, switch, test, ground, cover, cut, splice, rig, lift, excavate, rescue or perform storm restoration through this course.
  • This is not hands-on lineworker training, apprenticeship credit, supervised hours, journey status, qualified-employee designation, CDL, switching authorization, live-line qualification, first-aid/pole-top/bucket rescue competence, rigging/signal qualification, college credit or professional certification.
  • Only the system owner/operator, current diagrams and operating orders, employer procedures, applicable OSHA rule, qualified employees and designated authorities govern real work. No internal completion, score or fastest route predicts safe performance, qualification, restoration time or system outcome.

Fastest competency route

Completion is self-paced and competency-based. Prior knowledge may shorten conceptual study only when circuit identity, topology, sources, operating authority, protective state, crew accountability and verification remain traceable. Practical skill, supervised hours and qualified-employee status require external employer programs; no fastest-hour, journey or employment promise is made.

  1. Pass diagnostics on authority, system topology, job briefing, sources, deenergization, grounding, approach, access, rigging, restoration and quality
  2. Repair every planted defect in the fictional linework audit
  3. Complete and defend the linework planning and verification dossier

Full self-paced route

  1. Pathway, system identity, one-lines, work packages and job briefings
  2. Electrical states, deenergization, grounding, approach, arc/step/touch potential and work methods
  3. Structures, underground systems, access, rigging, storms, restoration, handoff and quality
  4. Applied linework planning and verification dossier

Lesson and assessment map

01

Pathway, system identity, one-lines, work packages, and job briefings

Translate a fictional linework request into an authority map, controlled system model and complete briefing.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

02

Electrical states, deenergization, grounding, approach, and potential control

Create a paper-only protective-state plan that separates operating actions from employee protection.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

03

Structures, underground systems, access, rigging, storms, restoration, and quality

Audit fictional construction and restoration evidence without climbing, entering, lifting, switching or contacting equipment.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

Required applied assignment

Electrical-linework planning and verification dossier

Repair the fictional linework audit and create one paper-only dossier from apprenticeship and authority through system topology, job briefing, deenergization, grounding, approach, structures, underground/access, rigging, storm restoration, handoff and quality. Perform no live approach, climbing, entry, switching, testing, grounding, rigging, lifting, rescue or repair.

  • Apprenticeship, journey, qualified-employee, switching, CDL, rescue and task-authority matrix
  • Circuit/device/source topology, controlled-document register and accessible job briefing
  • Protective-state, approach, PPE/tool and grounding/equipotential evidence
  • Structure/access, underground/enclosed-space, rigging and storm-restoration audits
  • Switching/ground/clearance handoff and quality dashboard with duplicate repair, denominators, missingness and balancing measures

Passing standard: 80 of 100 points, with substantive revision required.

Continue after this course

  • Verify apprenticeship, CDL, qualified-employee, rescue, switching, climbing/aerial, live-line and jurisdictional requirements for the intended employer
  • Complete supervised labs and field hours on the exact system, voltage class, equipment and work method
  • Maintain demonstrated approach, grounding, switching, rescue, rigging, traffic, storm and continuing-competence records
