Current availability

The subject-specific curriculum is authored but not yet published for completion. Learners may inspect its scope and learning design now. Start, grading, and completion remain unavailable until every listed gate passes.

  • qualified review approval is required
  • reviewer identity, qualification, evidence, and approval date are required

What this course establishes

  • Map apprenticeship, licensing, code, permit, inspector and task-authority gates without claiming mechanic or inspector status
  • Model fictional traction, hydraulic, door, control and safety-device systems and build evidence-led maintenance or diagnostic plans
  • Audit fictional energy, access, testing, accessibility, outage, repair, handoff and quality records without touching equipment

Entry knowledge

  • Algebra, measurement, schematic reading, careful record comparison and willingness to stop when equipment identity, energy state or work authority is uncertain
  • Ability to distinguish a reported symptom, observed condition, diagnostic hypothesis, approved test, acceptance criterion and authorized disposition
  • Commitment to passenger accessibility, protected hoistways, hazardous-energy control and truthful inspection history

Scope boundaries

  • All elevators, escalators, lifts, hoistways, pits, machine spaces, passengers and records are fictional. Learners must not enter a hoistway, pit, car top or machine space; open doors or gates; bypass an interlock; energize, move, support, rig, test, adjust, repair or rescue; apply or remove locks/tags; or contact electrical, hydraulic, spring, gravity or stored-energy systems through this course.
  • This is not hands-on trade training, registered apprenticeship credit, supervised hours, mechanic/contractor license, QEI credential, electrical qualification, competent-person designation, confined-space authorization, rescue training, manufacturer certification, inspector authority, college credit or professional certification.
  • Only the adopted code edition, AHJ, owner, manufacturer, maintenance-control program, employer and authorized qualified personnel govern real work. No internal completion, score or fastest route predicts licensure, inspection approval, passenger safety or repair outcome.

Fastest competency route

Completion is self-paced and competency-based. Prior knowledge may shorten conceptual study only when equipment identity, adopted authority, energy state, diagnostic evidence, acceptance criteria and record history remain traceable. Manual skill, required hours and field authority require supervised external routes; no fastest-hour, license or employment promise is made.

  1. Pass diagnostics on authority, systems, energy, access, maintenance, troubleshooting, testing, accessibility and quality
  2. Repair every planted defect in the fictional elevator-service audit
  3. Complete and defend the elevator maintenance and verification dossier

Full self-paced route

  1. Pathway, code hierarchy, equipment identity and system architecture
  2. Hazardous energy, protected access, maintenance and evidence-led diagnostics
  3. Testing, inspection, accessibility, outage response, handoff and quality
  4. Applied elevator maintenance and verification dossier

Lesson and assessment map

01

Trade pathway, code hierarchy, equipment identity, and system architecture

Translate a fictional service request into an authority map and configuration-controlled system model.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

02

Hazardous energy, protected access, preventive maintenance, and diagnostics

Build a paper-only maintenance and fault-isolation plan that controls every energy and access boundary.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

03

Testing, inspection, accessibility, outage response, handoff, and quality

Audit fictional acceptance and service evidence without performing tests, rescue or regulated inspection.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

Required applied assignment

Elevator maintenance and verification dossier

Repair the fictional elevator-service audit and create one paper-only dossier from authority and equipment identity through system model, energy/access boundaries, maintenance, diagnosis, testing, accessibility, outage response, handoff and quality. Perform no live entry, isolation, movement, bypass, adjustment, testing, rescue or repair.

  • Apprenticeship, license, code, permit, inspector and task-authority matrix
  • Equipment identity/configuration baseline, controlled-document register and system block diagram
  • Energy/access critique, maintenance ledger and complaint-to-cause diagnostic chain
  • Test/inspection, accessibility and emergency-response audit with defect-correction-reinspection history
  • Return-to-service handoff and quality dashboard with duplicate repair, denominators, severity, missingness and balancing measures

Passing standard: 80 of 100 points, with substantive revision required.

Continue after this course

  • Verify apprenticeship, licensing, adopted-code, permit, inspection and employer requirements in the intended jurisdiction
  • Complete supervised field training on identified equipment under an approved energy-control, fall, access, electrical and rescue program
  • Maintain equipment-specific competence, code updates, accessibility knowledge and documented periodic evaluation
