Current availability
The subject-specific curriculum is authored but not yet published for completion. Learners may inspect its scope and learning design now. Start, grading, and completion remain unavailable until every listed gate passes.
- qualified review approval is required
- reviewer identity, qualification, evidence, and approval date are required
What this course establishes
- Trace fictional vapor-compression, air distribution, hydronic, combustion, electrical and control systems
- Calculate and interpret fictional sensible/latent heat, airflow, temperature, pressure, superheat, subcooling, psychrometric and electrical evidence with units and conditions
- Build paper-only maintenance, diagnostic and commissioning records without accessing, energizing, opening or charging equipment
Entry knowledge
- Algebra, ratios, units, temperature/pressure concepts, basic electricity, diagrams and accurate records
- Ability to distinguish equipment identity, design conditions, refrigeration/air/water/fuel/electrical/control paths, symptom, measurement, diagnosis and acceptance criterion
- Commitment to refrigerant law, energy control, combustion safety, ventilation, manufacturer instructions and stop-work authority
Scope boundaries
- All buildings, appliances, circuits, refrigerants, customers and measurements are fictional. Learners must not open a refrigerant circuit; connect gauges/hoses; recover, evacuate, charge or vent refrigerant; braze or perform hot work; energize or probe equipment; defeat safeties; adjust gas pressure, combustion, airflow or controls; open fuel systems; enter confined spaces; disturb mold/asbestos/lead; or operate lifts/rigging through this course.
- This is not EPA Section 608 certification, state/local contractor or trade licensing, electrical qualified-person status, gas/oil fitter authorization, combustion-analysis qualification, brazing/hot-work authorization, manufacturer certification, registered apprenticeship or supervised hours, testing-adjusting-balancing/commissioning credential, college credit or professional certification.
- Only current manufacturer data, approved refrigerant and lubricant, code, permit, design sequence, energy-control procedure, calibrated instruments, qualified personnel and authority having jurisdiction govern real work. Internal completion or a fastest route never predicts certification, safe combustion, correct charge, indoor-air quality, efficiency or employment.
Fastest competency route
Completion is self-paced and competency-based. Prior knowledge may shorten conceptual study only when system, measurement, safety, regulatory and revision evidence remains complete. Section 608 exams, supervised practical work, licenses, manufacturer credentials and field authorization remain external; no fastest-hour, certification or employment promise is made.
- Pass diagnostics on refrigeration, airflow/psychrometrics, electrical/controls, combustion, safety, commissioning and refrigerant compliance
- Repair every planted defect in the fictional service audit
- Complete and defend the HVACR diagnostic and commissioning dossier
Full self-paced route
- Loads, vapor-compression systems, refrigerants and heat transfer
- Airflow, psychrometrics, electrical systems, controls and combustion
- Maintenance, diagnostics, refrigerant management, commissioning and quality
- Applied HVACR diagnostic and commissioning dossier
Lesson and assessment map
Loads, vapor-compression systems, refrigerants, and heat transfer
Trace heat and refrigerant through a fictional system and distinguish load, capacity, operating condition and fault evidence.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Airflow, psychrometrics, electrical systems, controls, and combustion
Build a fictional air/electrical/control/fuel evidence map and calculate safe diagnostic comparisons without touching equipment.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Maintenance, diagnostics, refrigerant management, and commissioning
Use fictional trend evidence to isolate faults and verify a complete installation/service handoff.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Required applied assignment
HVACR diagnostic and commissioning dossier
Repair the fictional HVACR service audit and create one paper-only dossier from load and system identity through refrigeration, airflow, electrical/control, combustion, maintenance, refrigerant management, diagnostics, commissioning and quality. Perform no energization, probing, refrigerant access, fuel adjustment, hot work, confined-space entry or safety bypass.
- Load/design-condition, equipment, refrigeration and refrigerant identity map
- Airflow/static-pressure, psychrometric, electrical/control and combustion evidence worksheet
- Section 608, energy-control, fuel, access, ventilation and safety hold-point plan
- Maintenance, hypothesis/test, leak/refrigerant custody and functional-performance records
- Commissioning/owner handoff and quality dashboard with duplicate repair, denominators, missingness and balancing measures
Passing standard: 80 of 100 points, with substantive revision required.
Continue after this course
- Verify licensing, Section 608 type, electrical, fuel-gas, brazing, commissioning and code requirements for the intended role and jurisdiction
- Complete supervised laboratories and field training on exact refrigerants, recovery equipment, electrical/control platforms, combustion analyzers, airflow instruments and manufacturer procedures
- Maintain certification, qualification, calibration, refrigerant custody, practical demonstration and continuing-education records
