Current availability

The subject-specific curriculum is authored but not yet published for completion. Learners may inspect its scope and learning design now. Start, grading, and completion remain unavailable until every listed gate passes.

  • qualified review approval is required
  • reviewer identity, qualification, evidence, and approval date are required

What this course establishes

  • Distinguish laboratory certification, test complexity, personnel qualification, education, certification, state licensure, training, competency and task authorization
  • Trace a fictional specimen from order and identity through accession, preanalytic acceptance, measurement-system controls, result verification and corrected reporting
  • Investigate quality-control, proficiency-testing, safety, informatics and measurement defects using documented stop, containment, correction and prevention decisions

Entry knowledge

  • High-school algebra, scientific notation and basic biology/chemistry vocabulary
  • Ability to follow a controlled procedure and preserve an audit trail
  • Commitment to stop and escalate rather than improvise when identity, quality, safety or authorization is uncertain

Scope boundaries

  • All patients, orders, specimens, cultures, reagents, instruments, results and records are fictional. Learners must not collect, handle, process, test, store, transport or dispose of real human specimens; culture organisms; perform venipuncture; operate, calibrate or maintain clinical instruments; prepare blood products; release transfusion products; verify or report patient results; interpret findings; diagnose; treat; or direct clinical or emergency decisions through this course.
  • This internal certificate-of-completion course is not a NAACLS-accredited MLT program, associate degree, college credit, clinical rotation, ASCP or AMT certification eligibility or result, state license, phlebotomy credential, CLIA personnel qualification, laboratory employment authorization, employer training or competency assessment, continuing education approval, transfusion-service authorization or independent practice credential. No completion time, certification result, licensure, transfer, placement, competence or employment outcome is guaranteed.

Fastest competency route

Completion is self-paced and competency-based. Prior knowledge can shorten study only when every authorization, identity, specimen, measurement, quality, safety and reporting decision remains traceable across varied simulations; no completion time, laboratory qualification, certification, license, clinical competence, credit or employment outcome is guaranteed.

  1. Pass diagnostics on authorization, identity, specimen quality, measurement systems, quality control, discipline workflows, verification and safety
  2. Repair every planted defect in the fictional laboratory audit with a source-linked disposition
  3. Complete and defend a simulation-only specimen-to-result quality dossier

Full self-paced route

  1. Authority, orders, identity, collection context, accession and preanalytic control
  2. Measurement systems, calibration, quality control and discipline-specific workflows
  3. Verification, critical results, corrected reports, proficiency testing, competency, safety and informatics
  4. Applied specimen-to-result quality dossier

Lesson and assessment map

01

Authority, patient/specimen identity, accession, and preanalytic control

Accept only a correctly ordered, identified, traceable and suitable fictional specimen under verified authority.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

02

Measurement systems, calibration, quality control, and laboratory disciplines

Decide whether a fictional measurement system is in control and apply discipline-specific preanalytic and analytic limits.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

03

Result verification, critical communication, proficiency, competency, safety, and informatics

Close the fictional laboratory loop with authorized reporting, auditable correction, safe work and reproducible quality measures.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

Required applied assignment

Simulation-only specimen-to-result quality dossier

Repair the fictional laboratory audit and design one complete specimen-to-result episode. Use only the provided synthetic records and paper/digital simulation. Trace authority, identity, specimen suitability, measurement controls, discipline-specific decisions, reporting, safety and quality improvement; do not perform real collection, testing, culture, instrument work, transfusion activity or patient reporting.

  • Corrected event audit with one disposition per stable ID and a duplicate-resolution log
  • CLIA certificate/test-complexity/personnel-qualification/education/certification/licensure/training/competency/task-authorization crosswalk
  • Order, two-identifier collection context, accession, aliquot lineage, transport and acceptance/rejection workflow
  • Measurement-system dictionary, QC chart, out-of-control containment/CAPA and discipline casebook
  • Result-verification, critical-result read-back, corrected-report, PT integrity and six-element competency records
  • Biosafety, bloodborne-exposure, chemical-hygiene, spill, waste, LIS/interface/downtime and accessible quality-measure plan

Passing standard: 80 of 100 points, with substantive revision required.

Continue after this course

  • A jurisdiction-accepted education and supervised clinical pathway matched to the intended laboratory role and test complexity
