Paramedic
Save Paramedic as an interest and organize future course, credential, and career research around it.
Current availability
The subject-specific curriculum is authored but not yet published for completion. Learners may inspect its scope and learning design now. Start, grading, and completion remain unavailable until every listed gate passes.
- qualified review approval is required
- reviewer identity, qualification, evidence, and approval date are required
What this course establishes
- Separate education, certification, state licensure, medical-director credentialing, protocol and patient-specific authorization for advanced paramedic decisions
- Integrate fictional assessment trends, airway/ventilation/perfusion, ECG context, pharmacology safety and medical/trauma/special-population evidence into a prioritized differential and transport plan
- Close a fictional advanced-life-support call with vascular-access and procedure boundaries, command, destination, accepted handoff, auditable ePCR, exposure control and reproducible quality measures
Entry knowledge
- Current EMT-level knowledge of anatomy, physiology, assessment, communication, documentation and EMS safety
- Foundational algebra, unit conversion, scientific notation, graph and waveform literacy
- Ability to distinguish a differential from a diagnosis and national models from state, agency and medical-direction authority
Scope boundaries
- Every patient, scene, medication, device, monitor, vehicle, dispatch, record and incident is fictional. Learners must not assess, diagnose or treat a real person; perform airway, ventilation, intubation, surgical-airway, ECG, cardioversion, defibrillation, pacing, IV, IO, medication, needle-decompression, chest-seal, hemorrhage-control, splinting, childbirth, restraint, lifting, transport or driving procedures; contact medical control; or direct real emergency response through this course. For a real emergency, use the applicable local emergency system.
- This internal certificate-of-completion course is not a CAAHEP-accredited paramedic program, a CoAEMSP Letter-of-Review program, a Student Minimum Competency or psychomotor portfolio, clinical rotation, field internship, EMT prerequisite, National Registry eligibility or certification, state license, medical-director credentialing, protocol training, ACLS/PALS/BLS credential, CAPCE or other continuing education, degree, college credit or employment qualification. No completion time, examination result, certification, licensure, transfer, clinical competence, placement or employment outcome is guaranteed.
Fastest competency route
Completion is self-paced and competency-based. Prior knowledge can shorten study only when authority, physiology, differential reasoning, medication safety, procedure boundaries, transport, documentation and quality evidence remain traceable across varied simulations; no completion time, certification, license, psychomotor or clinical competence, credit or employment outcome is guaranteed.
- Pass diagnostics covering authority, advanced assessment, airway/ventilation, ECG/resuscitation, pharmacology, vascular access, medical/trauma/special populations, operations and quality
- Repair every planted defect in the fictional paramedic case audit with cited reasoning
- Complete and defend the simulation-only advanced-life-support case dossier and remediation log
Full self-paced route
- Advanced authority, assessment, airway, oxygenation, ventilation and perfusion
- ECG, resuscitation, pharmacology, medical, trauma and special populations
- Vascular access, operations, transport, handoff, documentation, infection control and quality
- Applied advanced-life-support case dossier
Lesson and assessment map
Advanced authority, assessment, airway, ventilation, and perfusion
Build a prioritized differential and airway/ventilation plan from fictional trends while keeping every advanced action inside verified authority and a failure-ready system.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
ECG, resuscitation, pharmacology, and time-sensitive emergencies
Integrate fictional cardiac, medication, medical, trauma and special-population evidence without turning a monitor, protocol or mnemonic into an unsupported diagnosis or unauthorized action.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Vascular access, operations, transport, handoff, documentation, and quality
Coordinate a fictional advanced-life-support call through safe access decisions, command, destination, accepted transfer, auditable records and quality review.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Required applied assignment
Simulation-only advanced-life-support case dossier
Repair the fictional paramedic audit and design one complete advanced-life-support case from dispatch through accepted transfer and quality review. Use only fictional records and paper/digital simulation. Do not contact a real patient, perform a procedure, use emergency equipment, administer medication, operate a vehicle or direct an emergency response.
- Corrected case audit with one disposition per stable ID, explicit PM-018 duplicate reconciliation and a defect/remediation log
- CAAHEP/CoAEMSP/Student Minimum Competency, education, certification, state-license, medical-director-credentialing, protocol and task-authority crosswalk
- Scene/command/consent record, prioritized differential, serial assessment and airway/oxygenation/ventilation/perfusion brief with primary, backup, confirmation and monitoring controls
- ECG quality/interpretation and resuscitation system record plus unit-explicit medication safety, independent-check and controlled-substance custody evidence
- Medical, trauma, pediatric, obstetric/neonatal, geriatric, disability and behavioral decision/destination maps plus vascular-access and attempt-limit record
- Transport/intercept/air-medical comparison, accepted MIST/SBAR handoff, complete ePCR/correction trail, infection/exposure/fatigue controls and accessible QI dashboard with denominators and balancing measures
Passing standard: 80 of 100 points, with substantive revision required.
Continue after this course
- A CAAHEP-accredited paramedic program or other pathway currently accepted by the applicable state and National Registry
- Supervised laboratory, clinical and field experience with documented Student Minimum Competency and psychomotor performance
- Current state examination/licensure, agency orientation, protocol training, medical-director credentialing and directly observed competency before any real advanced-life-support practice
