- qualified review approval is required
- reviewer identity, qualification, evidence, and approval date are required
What this course establishes
- Set exposure, focus, optics, composition and light intentionally for a defined subject and output
- Ingest, verify, select and develop photographs through a calibrated, non-destructive and reproducible workflow
- Deliver ethically captured, rights-cleared, accessibly described and technically verified photographs with masters, metadata, licenses and revision evidence
Entry knowledge
- Basic camera and computer file handling
- Ability to work safely around ordinary lighting equipment
- Basic visual composition vocabulary
Scope boundaries
- Uses fictional commissions and metadata only; it does not authorize photographing people or restricted property without permission, unsafe electrical/rigging work, drone operation, newborn/wildlife handling, trespass, interference with emergencies, deceptive advertising, evidence alteration or publication without accountable review
- Does not replace a licensed drone pilot, electrician, rigger, medical/forensic specialist, journalist/editor, researcher, accessibility specialist, rights-clearance professional, insurer or legal counsel
Fastest competency route
Completion is self-paced and competency-based. Prior experience shortens study only when every capture, lighting, color, workflow, ethical, rights, accessibility and delivery criterion is demonstrated; no fixed duration, employment, certification, permit, legal clearance, publication, accessibility conformance, client acceptance or commercial result is promised.
- Pass diagnostics in exposure, metering, histograms, optics, perspective, focus, depth of field, lighting, color, RAW workflow, metadata, integrity, rights, accessibility and delivery
- Complete the synthetic shoot audit and one controlled three-part commission
- Correct every brief, consent, exposure, clipping, motion, focus, perspective, flicker, color, file-integrity, metadata, manipulation, license, alternative-description, backup and export defect
Full self-paced route
- Exposure, optics, focus, composition and capture
- Lighting, color, ingest, selection and non-destructive development
- Ethics, documentary/scientific integrity, rights, accessibility, archive and delivery
- Applied commission portfolio and final assessment

Brief-to-archive photography commission portfolio
Using only the fictional shoot audit, plan and produce a controlled portrait, product/still-life image and documentary or explanatory set. Demonstrate measured capture, lighting/color control, verified ingestion, non-destructive development, truthful editing, consent and rights, accessible context, archive and delivery. Do not photograph real people or restricted places without authorization, operate drones or unsafe rigs, manipulate evidence deceptively, make unreviewed regulated claims or claim legal clearance, permit, publication, accessibility conformance or client acceptance.
- Brief, scout/safety and permission plan, shot list, exposure/metering/histogram evidence, focus/motion/optics rationale and contact sheets
- Lighting diagrams, neutral/chart evidence, RAW masters, checksum ingest manifest, selection rationale, non-destructive edit recipe, color/output verification and inspected derivatives
- Consent/property/copyright/license matrix, captions, privacy and metadata review, genre-specific manipulation policy, transformation log and purpose-based alternatives
- Archive and delivery package with faithful masters, public derivatives, profiles/metadata decisions, manifest, checksums, versions, retention/deletion duties, critique and correction history
