What this course establishes

  • Develop an audience-specific show and episode from a documented editorial premise, research trail, interview plan and fact-check record
  • Record and edit intelligible, safe, accessible spoken-audio productions with repeatable session, loudness, transcript and quality-control evidence
  • Publish and maintain a standards-aware RSS package with bounded rights, truthful sponsorship, privacy-respecting analytics, version control and rollback

Entry knowledge

  • Basic computer and file-management skills
  • Comfort listening critically to spoken audio
  • Ability to research and revise written material

Scope boundaries

  • Uses fictional people, releases, sponsors and records; it does not authorize covert recording, unlicensed music or clips, deceptive edits or endorsements, harassment, unsupported medical/legal/financial claims, disclosure of confidential sources, unsafe sound exposure or publication without the required editorial and rights review
  • Does not replace a journalist or subject editor, audio engineer, accessibility specialist, fact-checker, attorney, insurer, accountant, union representative, clinician, platform representative or qualified local privacy/recording-consent adviser

Fastest competency route

Completion is self-paced and competency-based. Prior production experience shortens study only when every editorial, technical, accessibility, rights, advertising, feed, privacy, measurement and operational criterion is demonstrated; no fixed duration, employment, certification, platform approval, audience size, revenue, chart placement or commercial result is promised.

  1. Pass diagnostics in editorial framing, research, interviews, fact checking, consent, capture, edit, loudness, accessibility, RSS, rights, sponsorship and measurement
  2. Complete the production audit and publish a validated fictional pilot package with source ledger, transcript, feed fixture, rights matrix and QC evidence
  3. Correct every premise, sourcing, consent, safety, room, gain, sync, edit, claim, transcript, rights, ad, feed, metric, privacy, filename and rollback defect

Full self-paced route

  1. Show development, reporting, interviewing and editorial control
  2. Recording, editing, mixing, transcripts and listening QC
  3. RSS distribution, rights, monetization, measurement and operations
  4. Applied pilot package and final assessment

Required applied assignment

Produce, validate, and audit an accessible fictional podcast pilot

No real guest, confidential source, listener identifier, credential, unlicensed media or unsupported regulated claim may be used. The package remains a draft until qualified review approves the content and jurisdiction-specific decisions.

  • Session plan, track sheet, raw-preservation/checksum record, edit decision list, processing/loudness report, final audio and complete listening QC log
  • Human-verified transcript, accessible show notes, media descriptions, rights/consent matrix, sponsorship disclosure and privacy review
