Current availability

The subject-specific curriculum is authored but not yet published for completion. Learners may inspect its scope and learning design now. Start, grading, and completion remain unavailable until every listed gate passes.

  • qualified review approval is required
  • reviewer identity, qualification, evidence, and approval date are required

What this course establishes

  • Translate a supervised work order and controlled drawing into a material, measurement, sequence, quality and hazard-control plan
  • Select and inspect appropriate simulated tools, fixtures and materials while respecting guards, energy controls, chemical information and authorization limits
  • Document a reproducible build, inspection, defect, maintenance and handoff record without concealing rework, substituting materials or claiming a licensed trade qualification

Entry knowledge

  • Whole-number, fraction, decimal and basic geometry operations
  • Ability to read plain-language procedures and record observations
  • Willingness to stop and ask when a task, tool, material or condition is not authorized or understood

Scope boundaries

  • All practice is planning, measurement on inert classroom objects, paper/digital simulation or work under a qualified site's direct authorization and supervision. Learners must not energize, wire, plumb, weld, braze, solder, machine, cut, grind, lift/rig, climb, excavate, enter confined spaces, handle hazardous material, defeat a guard, perform lockout/tagout, operate vehicles or equipment, or service a system independently.
  • Only an employer, sponsor and qualified site authority can authorize people, tools, tasks, equipment and controls. This internal course is not a Registered Apprenticeship, journey credential, OSHA card, license, code qualification, trade school award, degree or college credit; it does not replace site-specific training, supervised on-the-job learning, related instruction or competency verification.

Fastest competency route

Completion is self-paced and competency-based. Familiarity can shorten study only when every drawing revision, unit, datum, tolerance, material, tool, control, inspection and change is traceable; no completion time, safe-job authorization, apprenticeship placement, license, credential, wage, college credit or employment outcome is guaranteed.

  1. Pass diagnostics on work orders, drawings, units, tolerances, materials, sequence, hazards, controls, tools, inspection, defects and documentation
  2. Repair every planted work-order, measurement, material, safety, assembly, quality and maintenance defect in the synthetic shop audit
  3. Complete and defend the supervised fabrication dossier with hold points, inspection evidence, rework controls and an accurate apprenticeship transition plan

Full self-paced route

  1. Work order, drawing, measurement, materials and process planning
  2. Hazard recognition, controls, tools, machines and controlled execution
  3. Assembly, quality, troubleshooting, maintenance, documentation and apprenticeship progression
  4. Applied supervised maker/trades dossier

Lesson and assessment map

01

Work order, drawing, measurement, materials, and process planning

Turn a controlled work package into a buildable, measurable and safely bounded plan before touching tools or material.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

02

Hazard recognition, controls, tools, machines, and controlled execution

Plan supervised work using the hierarchy of controls and stop when authorization, guarding, energy isolation or conditions are not verified.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

03

Assembly, quality, troubleshooting, maintenance, and apprenticeship progression

Verify function against requirements, control defects and changes, and build an evidence-based supervised learning record.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

Required applied assignment

Plan, control, inspect, and hand off a fictional supervised fabrication job

Use only supplied fictional drawings, work orders, materials, tools, equipment and records. Do not perform real energized, hazardous, hot, elevated, pressurized, rotating, cutting, lifting, vehicle, chemical, confined-space or licensed work. Any physical classroom measurement must use inert objects and instructor-approved low-risk methods. Real work requires employer/site authorization, qualified supervision and occupation-specific training.

  • Controlled work-package review, revision/drawing and feature map, datum/tolerance/unit and instrument plan, material/compatibility/traceability register, process sequence, authorization boundary and hold points
  • Job-hazard analysis and hierarchy of controls, pre-job brief, tool/accessory/fixture and guard checks, hazardous-energy handoff, HazCom/SDS and emergency/stop-work package
  • Assembly traveler, inspection/acceptance plan and records, defect segregation, nonconformance/disposition, root-cause and controlled test, corrective action, rework/reinspection and maintenance/return-to-service plan
  • Accessible as-built/as-maintained handoff, complete synthetic-audit repairs, material/measurement/change history, competency log and evidence-based Registered Apprenticeship comparison without credential claims

Passing standard: 85 of 100 points, with substantive revision required.
