Current availability

The subject-specific curriculum is authored but not yet published for completion. Learners may inspect its scope and learning design now. Start, grading, and completion remain unavailable until every listed gate passes.

  • qualified review approval is required
  • reviewer identity, qualification, evidence, and approval date are required

What this course establishes

  • Translate a fictional customer load/site record into a bounded PV feasibility and documentation plan
  • Build paper-only array, string, inverter, racking, conductor/protection, labeling and permit-set checks without engineering or installation
  • Create commissioning, permission-to-operate, handoff and maintenance evidence from a fictional project audit

Entry knowledge

  • Arithmetic, geometry, units, basic DC/AC electricity and drawing literacy
  • Ability to distinguish site assessment, design, permit, installation, inspection, interconnection, commissioning and operations records
  • Commitment to fall, ladder, lifting, roof, electrical, weather, heat and battery boundaries

Scope boundaries

  • All customers, sites, roofs, structures, utilities, equipment, bills, measurements and drawings are fictional. Learners must not climb roofs/ladders/scaffolds; use fall-arrest systems; lift modules; penetrate roofs; excavate; operate tools; install racking; connect, disconnect, energize, probe or commission PV, service, utility or battery circuits; enter attics/confined spaces; perform structural/electrical engineering; submit permits/interconnection; or represent themselves as qualified through this course.
  • This is not contractor/electrician/roofer/PV licensure, NABCEP or manufacturer certification, registered apprenticeship, supervised hours, OSHA training, electrical qualification, fall-protection authorization, structural engineering, permit approval, utility interconnection/permission to operate, college credit or professional certification.
  • PV modules can produce DC whenever illuminated. Disconnect position, covered modules or inverter shutdown is not universal absence-of-voltage proof. Only current site-specific stamped/approved documents where required, listed compatible equipment, manufacturer instructions, adopted code, utility rules, qualified persons, inspected fall systems and verified electrical work conditions govern real work. Internal completion or a fastest route never predicts approval, safe installation, energy yield, savings, certification or employment.

Fastest competency route

Completion is self-paced and competency-based. Prior knowledge may shorten conceptual study only when site, design, authority, safety, measurement and revision evidence remains complete. Hands-on competence, supervised hours, licenses, certifications, fall/electrical qualification, engineering, permits, inspections and utility permission remain external; no fastest-hour, approval, production, savings or employment promise is made.

  1. Pass diagnostics on PV energy, site/roof assessment, electrical topology, fall/electrical controls, permits, installation quality and commissioning
  2. Repair every planted defect in the fictional PV project audit
  3. Complete and defend the PV project dossier

Full self-paced route

  1. PV fundamentals, site assessment, customer/load boundaries and feasibility
  2. Array/electrical/structural documentation, installation sequence and safety controls
  3. Inspection, interconnection, commissioning, handoff, operations and quality
  4. Applied photovoltaic project dossier

Lesson and assessment map

01

PV fundamentals, site assessment, and feasible scope

Convert a fictional customer goal and site record into an honest, bounded PV feasibility assessment.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

02

Array and electrical documentation, installation sequence, and safety controls

Audit a fictional PV permit set and installation plan for compatible components, buildable details and controlled hazards.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

03

Inspection, interconnection, commissioning, handoff, and operations

Build fictional inspection-to-operations evidence without energizing before all authorities approve.

4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.

Required applied assignment

Photovoltaic project dossier

Repair the fictional PV project audit and create one paper-only dossier from customer goals and site feasibility through approved design, controlled installation planning, inspections, interconnection, commissioning, handoff and O&M. Perform no roof, ladder, fall-protection, structural, tool, electrical, battery, permit, utility or energization work.

  • Privacy-bounded intake, load/site/roof/electrical/shading record and feasibility model
  • Array/string/equipment/one-line/structural documentation audit with calculations and referrals
  • Fall, access, lift, weather, heat and electrical energy-control plan with qualified-role boundaries
  • Permit/revision/inspection/PTO and commissioning evidence with baseline performance
  • Owner handoff, O&M and quality dashboard with duplicate repair, denominators, missingness and balancing measures

Passing standard: 80 of 100 points, with substantive revision required.

Continue after this course

  • Verify trade licenses, supervision, adopted codes, permitting, fire review, inspection, interconnection and incentive requirements for the project jurisdiction and utility
  • Complete supervised laboratories and field training on fall systems, roofs, racking, torque, wiring, grounding/bonding, inverters, rapid shutdown, test instruments and commissioning
  • Maintain qualification, equipment compatibility, torque, inspection, utility, commissioning, warranty, production and continuing-competence records
