Current availability
The subject-specific curriculum is authored but not yet published for completion. Learners may inspect its scope and learning design now. Start, grading, and completion remain unavailable until every listed gate passes.
- qualified review approval is required
- reviewer identity, qualification, evidence, and approval date are required
What this course establishes
- Map DVM/VMD, NAVLE, board license, VCPR, supervision/delegation and USDA-accreditation gates without implying authorization
- Build a fictional species-aware clinical reasoning chain from signalment and history through examination data, problem list, differentials, diagnostics, plan and reassessment
- Audit fictional medication, anesthesia/procedure, welfare, biosecurity, One Health, food-safety, records, referral and quality systems
Entry knowledge
- College-level biology, chemistry, anatomy/physiology, quantitative reasoning, scientific literacy, ethics and clear communication
- Ability to distinguish owner report, observation, measurement, diagnostic finding, differential, diagnosis, prognosis and treatment decision
- Commitment to stop and escalate when animal identity, species, welfare, zoonosis, biosecurity, emergency, authority, medication, procedure or public-health status is uncertain
Scope boundaries
- All animals, owners, herds, facilities, records, samples, images and events are fictional. Learners must not examine, restrain, diagnose, prescribe, dispense, compound, calculate or administer a dose, anesthetize, perform a procedure, certify, issue a VFD, establish a VCPR, determine withdrawal, file a report, direct animal movement, euthanize or advise on a real animal through this course.
- This is not an AVMA COE-accredited DVM/VMD degree, clinical rotation, NAVLE eligibility or preparation guarantee, ECFVG/PAVE equivalency pathway, state license, USDA NVAP accreditation, specialty certification, continuing education, college credit or authority to use a protected title. Exact boards and agencies decide eligibility and scope.
- No completion time, score or certificate predicts admission, examination, licensure, employment, specialty status, diagnosis, treatment response, animal welfare, food safety or public-health outcome. A real animal emergency requires an authorized veterinarian or verified emergency/public-health pathway, never this course.
Fastest competency route
Completion is self-paced and competency-based. Prior knowledge can shorten study only when species/context, authority, evidence, uncertainty, welfare, medication, public-health, documentation and outcome controls remain traceable across varied simulations; no time, degree, examination, license, competence, employment or animal outcome is guaranteed.
- Pass diagnostics on credential gates, clinical reasoning, diagnostics, medication, welfare, biosecurity, public health, records and quality
- Repair every planted defect in the fictional veterinary case audit
- Complete and defend the simulation-only veterinary reasoning and safety dossier
Full self-paced route
- Profession, VCPR, welfare, communication and species-aware examination reasoning
- Diagnostics, therapeutics, anesthesia/procedure planning and reassessment
- Biosecurity, One Health, food safety, regulatory duties, records and quality
- Applied veterinary reasoning and safety dossier
Lesson and assessment map
Profession gates, VCPR, welfare, communication, and examination reasoning
Open a fictional veterinary case only when authority, animal/client identity, species context, welfare, consent, biosecurity and examination evidence are adequate.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Diagnostics, therapeutics, anesthesia/procedure planning, and reassessment
Create traceable fictional diagnostic and treatment reasoning without substituting a template, test result or calculation for authorized veterinary judgment.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Biosecurity, One Health, food safety, regulatory duties, records, and quality
Control fictional zoonotic, regulatory, continuity and quality risks through verified authority, traceable records and closed-loop systems.
4 questions: recall, application, judgment, and error correction.
Required applied assignment
Veterinary reasoning and safety dossier
Repair the fictional veterinary audit and design one complete simulation from credential/VCPR verification through species-aware reasoning, diagnostics, medication/procedure controls, One Health, transition and quality review. Use fictional records only and never handle, diagnose, prescribe for, treat, certify or advise on a real animal.
- Corrected audit with one disposition per stable ID, explicit VT-018 duplicate resolution and attributable remediation log
- DVM/VMD, NAVLE, board license, VCPR, supervision/delegation and NVAP authority crosswalk
- Species/use-class identity, history, examination-evidence, problem, differential, diagnostic and reassessment chain with uncertainty
- Medication, food-residue, anesthesia/procedure, welfare and humane-endpoint controls without real doses or techniques
- Biosecurity, zoonosis, reportable-disease, movement/certification, records, referral and adverse-event playbooks
- Accessible quality report with unique denominators, case mix, missingness, welfare/adverse outcomes and balancing measures
Passing standard: 80 of 100 points, with substantive revision required.
Continue after this course
- Verify prerequisite and admission requirements for an AVMA COE-accredited DVM/VMD program or the applicable international-graduate equivalency pathway
- Complete supervised clinical education with documented species, procedural, diagnostic, communication, welfare and public-health competence
- Meet current NAVLE, board, jurisprudence, background, VCPR, controlled-substance, USDA-accreditation and continuing-education requirements for the intended jurisdiction and role
